UWC South East Asia (UWCSEA) operates across two major campuses in Singapore and is the largest institution within the global UWC movement. The Dover Campus, opened in 1971, now hosts over 3,000 students, while the East Campus, established in 2008, is home to more than 2,500. Together, the two campuses form a K–12 international school community of more than 5,600 students. UWCSEA was the second institution to join the United World Colleges movement, which today comprises 18 schools and colleges worldwide. Originally opened as Singapore International School by Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew, it became UWC South East Asia in 1975. Its growth has paralleled Singapore’s own development, evolving into a diverse and mission-driven learning community. Students are admitted based on their potential to contribute positively to both local and global communities—a core principle of the UWC mission. Across the two campuses, the school brings together families representing around 100 nationalities, supported by an alumni network of more than 20,000 worldwide who remain engaged with the UWC ethos. Both campuses are IB World Schools and fully aligned with the UWC mission, offering a holistic K–12 education grounded in academic challenge, service, outdoor education, and personal development.

Academic Excellence
UWC South East Asia delivers a mission-aligned K–12 academic pathway shaped by its Guiding Statements, deep teacher expertise, and evidence-based educational practice. Rather than layering multiple external programmes in the early years, the school builds its curriculum backward from the expectations of the IB Diploma Programme, ensuring coherence, rigour, and developmental appropriateness from Kindergarten through Grade 12. In the Infant and Junior Schools (K–G5), learning is interdisciplinary and inquiry-driven. Teachers—many with extensive IB PYP experience—design concept-based units that mirror how young children experience the world. Students explore themes such as identity, relationships, and wellbeing through a structured Personal and Social Education programme, while developing foundational skills in literacy, numeracy, the arts, languages, and early STEM. The Middle School (G6–G8) transitions students into subject-specific learning while retaining the concept-first approach. Specialist teachers lead courses across English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities, Visual and Performing Arts, Design, Languages, and Physical Education. Interdisciplinary thinking remains central, but students also build the discipline-specific skills needed for more advanced study, supported by exploratory design and technology programmes and a broad language offering. High School (G9–G12) culminates in the UWCSEA High School Diploma, which reflects the breadth and challenge of the College’s holistic programme. In Grades 9 and 10, students follow UWCSEA’s internally developed programme that blends academic strength with future-ready skills, providing a strong foundation for the final two years. In Grades 11 and 12, students may pursue the full IB Diploma Programme or select individual IB courses aligned to their interests and goals. UWCSEA has a long history with the IB—offering the Diploma since 1977—and continues to lead regionally with one of Singapore’s widest subject selections. It is also the only school in Asia currently piloting the IB’s new “Systems Transformation: Leadership for Change” course in partnership with the International Baccalaureate. Across all divisions, the curriculum is structured to ensure students make informed choices, develop disciplinary depth, and graduate equipped with strong academic foundations and a clear sense of purpose.
Beyond Classroom
A vibrant Activities programme sits at the heart of the school experience, giving students meaningful ways to explore new interests, sharpen existing strengths, and pursue passions that go far beyond classroom learning. The arts and performance pathway is especially rich, offering everything from ballet, choir, creative drama, dance and drama productions to music ensembles, jazz band, hip hop, and orchestra. Whether a child is discovering stage confidence or developing musical discipline, the programme nurtures creativity in all its forms. The Create and Innovate strand encourages students to experiment, build, design, and problem-solve. Options range from art studio, animation, coding, drawing, Chinese calligraphy, silk painting and STEM, to hands-on experiences like F1 racing simulations, Masterchef, and urban gardening. Competitive sport is another cornerstone. Students develop resilience and teamwork through a wide variety of representative sports, including badminton, basketball, cross country, cricket, football, golf, gymnastics, netball, rugby, sailing, softball, swimming, tennis, track and field, touch rugby, and volleyball. The emphasis on commitment and sportsmanship provides a strong foundation for healthy competition. The Wellness for Life pathway strengthens the link between physical and mental wellbeing. Activities focus on body awareness, discipline, and confidence, with options such as aerial arts, boot camp, boxing, community programmes, fencing, karate, multisport, recreational sports, rock climbing, taekwondo, ultimate frisbee, and yoga. These experiences help students understand how movement, mindset, and balance contribute to long-term health. Together, these strands create a well-rounded ecosystem where students can discover what excites them and develop habits and abilities that stay with them for life.
