Middleton International School
Middleton International School
Middleton International School sits within the EtonHouse International Education Group—one of Asia’s most established education providers, with more than 100 schools across nine countries and a track record of nearly three decades. The group serves over 25,000 children worldwide and has been a consistent early adopter of innovative, inquiry-driven approaches from preschool through K–12. Launched in 2017, Middleton was created as an accessible international school option for expatriate families, offering a complete learning pathway from Nursery 2 to Grade 12. Students follow the IPC in primary, transition into IGCSEs in the middle years, and progress to the A-Levels in high school, giving families a clear, academically recognised route all the way to graduation. The school’s community now brings together more than 1,000 students from over 50 nationalities. The campus offers the sort of space and resources that support both academic and personal development: large classrooms, science labs, a well-stocked library, a dedicated Design & Technology studio, a Life Skills studio, and extensive outdoor facilities including a full-sized field, hard courts, and a covered multi-purpose games area. It’s an environment designed to give students room to think, build, collaborate, and grow. Middleton’s connection to the wider EtonHouse group—including the government-appointed E-Bridge preschool network—underscores a consistent philosophy: high-quality education delivered with purpose, accessibility, and a strong sense of community.

Academic Excellence
Middleton International School offers a continuous Nursery 2–Grade 12 pathway built on internationally recognised programmes and the pedagogical heritage of the EtonHouse group. In the early years, children follow a blend of the EtonHouse Inquire.Think.Learn (ITL) framework and a structured skills-based pathway that supports readiness for primary school. Inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy—and backed by EtonHouse’s direct partnership with Reggio Children—this inquiry-led approach encourages curiosity, communication, and confidence, supported by ongoing research and educator training across the group’s global network. Primary students engage with the International Primary Curriculum (IPC), complemented by the UK National Curriculum for English and Singapore Maths. This combination balances thematic inquiry with strong literacy and numeracy foundations, drawing on methods now used in education systems across more than 40 countries. In Grades 6–8, the Cambridge Lower Secondary curriculum builds on the IPC years, providing the academic bridge to the Cambridge IGCSE subjects taken in Grades 9 and 10. As a registered Cambridge International School, Middleton offers a clear progression toward internationally benchmarked qualifications. In Grades 11 and 12, students complete the Cambridge International A-Levels (IAL), a rigorous sixth-form programme widely recognised by universities worldwide. This final stage consolidates subject mastery and prepares learners for higher education with a focus on depth, discipline, and global readiness.
Beyond Classroom
Middleton believes that a well-rounded education balances academic challenge with meaningful after-school experiences. Students are encouraged to work hard and play hard, with a wide range of extra-curricular activities (ECAs) that span sports, arts, culture, and recreation. These programmes help students explore new interests, uncover hidden talents, and build friendships across year groups, all while learning teamwork, sportsmanship, and fair play. The school offers teacher-led ECAs at no additional cost, alongside specialised options run by external providers such as badminton with Sweatinc. The list of activities is regularly reviewed to ensure relevance, quality, and student benefit. A defining feature of Middleton is its commitment to student wellbeing. Since 2018, the school has developed its own mindfulness practices and partnered with the Centre for Mindfulness (Singapore) to study their impact. The findings were strongly positive, prompting a deeper investment in evidence-based wellbeing education. This led to Middleton’s partnership with the Contentment Foundation, whose Four Pillars of Wellbeing programme brings a scientifically grounded, whole-school approach to emotional literacy, resilience, and healthy relationships. Student agency is also a hallmark of life at Middleton. Learners across grade levels take the lead on initiatives that strengthen the school community. Recent examples include Grade 10 students raising funds and awareness for the critically endangered Malayan Tiger, generating $1,719 for the Singapore Wildcat Action Group (SWAG). The Student Council plays a central role as well, organising school-wide events and championing causes related to inclusivity, sustainability, and wellbeing—setting a strong example of servant leadership for younger students. Creativity has an equally strong place in school life. In Visual Arts, students are taught to observe carefully, think creatively, and express ideas with confidence. From painting and sketching to sculpture and mixed media, the curriculum blends foundational technique with personal expression, encouraging students to explore global artistic influences while developing their own visual language. Taken together, these programmes reflect Middleton’s broader philosophy: education isn’t just about curriculum mastery—it’s about nurturing confident, compassionate, curious young people who thrive both inside and beyond the classroom.
