Singapore American School

Founded in 1956 by a group of pioneering American parents, Singapore American School (SAS) has grown into one of the world’s leading international schools — a place where global citizens are shaped through curiosity, collaboration, and character. Home to a vibrant community of students and educators from over 60 nationalities, SAS reflects the best of an interconnected world. While more than half of its students come from the United States, India, China, South Korea, Japan, Singapore, Canada, and the UK, the wider community includes peers from every corner of the globe — from Argentina to Vietnam — bringing unmatched cultural diversity to campus life. The same spirit of diversity extends to its faculty, with over half of the teachers from the U.S., and others from Canada, Australia, Singapore, and the UK, alongside professionals representing 20+ other nationalities. Beyond academics, SAS offers an extraordinary breadth of opportunities — with 300+ clubs, service initiatives, and after-school activities spanning from Kindergarten to Grade 12. It’s a school where every student can explore their passions, form lifelong friendships, and learn what it truly means to belong in a global community.

Academic

Academic Excellence

At Singapore American School (SAS), learning is designed to inspire curiosity, confidence, and a lifelong love of discovery across every stage of a student’s journey. In the Early Learning Center (ELC), a Reggio Emilia-inspired, inquiry-based programme nurtures young children’s curiosity and competence. Purposeful learning spaces and specialist classes such as Chinese and Move & Groove enrich each child’s early experiences through meaningful, play-based learning. The Elementary School builds strong foundations in literacy, numeracy, and creativity through core subjects and specialist lessons in art, music, PE, and world languages. With over 85 after-school activities, experiential learning, and a caring community, students develop curiosity, confidence, and social-emotional resilience. In Middle School, students learn in a supportive, engaging environment that balances academic challenge with well-being. Programmes such as TRi Time and Classroom Without Walls allow students to explore interests, apply learning in real-world contexts, and grow in independence and responsibility. The High School offers an exemplary American curriculum, including 25+ Advanced Placement (AP) courses, AP Capstone, and the innovative Catalyst and Quest programmes. Students are encouraged to pursue individual passions through academics, athletics, and the arts — preparing them to thrive at leading universities and beyond.

Beyond Classroom

At Singapore American School (SAS), co-curricular life builds character, teamwork, and leadership through a diverse range of Eagle Pathway activities that grow with every learner. The Eagle Pathway Athletics programme offers multiple levels of engagement — from Intramural Sports, focused on fun and skill development, to Developmental Sports, which help students refine techniques in a supportive, less competitive setting. Students ready for higher challenge join REP Sports, representing SAS in ACSIS and IASAS competitions across 13 varsity sports, including basketball, swimming, soccer, tennis, golf, rugby, and track and field. The Eagle Club extends opportunities for passionate athletes through professionally coached programmes such as Eagle Club Baseball, Swim, and Dance, where students train for local and international tournaments. Beyond athletics, SAS offers over 100 after-school clubs — from robotics and service projects to arts and innovation — all led by faculty mentors. Together, these experiences nurture confidence, connection, and personal growth well beyond the classroom.
