Saint Kentigern
Founded in 1949 with a vision to provide outstanding education in Auckland, the Saint Kentigern Trust began with a single purpose — to shape young lives through strong values and academic rigour. What started as a boys’ college has grown into a multi-campus family of schools across Remuera and Shore Road, evolving to welcome girls and pioneer a distinctive parallel education model. From Preschool to the Boys’ and Girls’ Schools, through to College, the education journey is intentionally designed — nurturing confidence, character and capability at every stage.

Saint Kentigern is a leading independent school group in Auckland, providing education from Preschool to Year 13 under the governance of the Saint Kentigern Trust Board. Established with the opening of Saint Kentigern College in 1953 and Saint Kentigern School in 1959, it has grown into a multi-campus educational community known for academic excellence, character development, and strong co-curricular programmes. The Shore Road Campus in Remuera accommodates the co-educational Preschool (ages 3–5) and separate Boys’ and Girls’ Schools (Years 0–8). Shared specialist facilities include science laboratories, design and technology classrooms, art studios, music practice rooms, dance and drama spaces, and a food technology suite, alongside a heated outdoor swimming pool, sports fields, courts, and a gymnasium. The Pakuranga Campus is home to Saint Kentigern College, set on 100 acres overlooking the Tamaki Estuary. Students in Years 7–10 study in single-gender classes, transitioning to a co-educational Senior College (Years 11–13). Facilities include the Jack Paine Centre for art, design, and technology, dedicated science laboratories, a Music Centre with performance auditorium, dance studios, and a large Sports Centre with flexible indoor courts. Looking ahead, the school continues to invest in its future, with a new learning facility opening at Pakuranga in 2027 as part of a long-term development plan. From the same year, Wilson Bay Farm will become a third campus, offering experiential outdoor learning that complements classroom education.

Academic Excellence
At Saint Kentigern College, education is designed to nurture curiosity, character, and confidence from the earliest years through to graduation. Inspired by a Reggio Emilia approach in the early years, learning begins with exploration, creativity, and purposeful inquiry. Within thoughtfully designed environments, children develop critical thinking and deep understanding, supported by strong foundations in literacy, numeracy, and the Visual Arts. As students progress into the Senior School, academic rigour is balanced with holistic development. Core subjects—English, Mathematics, Science, and Social Science—form a strong intellectual foundation, complemented by Health and Physical Education, Christian Education, Languages (Te Reo Māori, French, Spanish, and Chinese), TACT (The Arts and Creative Technologies), STEAM, Service, Leadership, and Character Education. In Year 11, all students undertake NCEA Level 1. In Years 12 and 13, they choose between two distinguished pathways: the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme or the National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA), ensuring preparation for leading universities in New Zealand and around the world.
Beyond Classroom
At Saint Kentigern, co-curricular programmes are designed to complement academic learning and nurture confidence, creativity, and character. Creative & Performing Arts Purpose-built art studios provide space for painting, printmaking, drawing, and clay work, encouraging experimentation and artistic expression. The Visual Arts Academy extends learning beyond the classroom through after-school and holiday programmes, exhibitions, and gallery visits. Drama productions, music soirées, orchestras, and choirs offer regular performance opportunities, fostering collaboration and stage confidence. Sport & Physical Development Exceptional facilities, including a sports centre, AstroTurf, expansive playing fields, and a heated outdoor swimming pool, support a broad physical education and sports programme. Seasonal team sports, aquatic activities, and skill-based training promote teamwork, resilience, and healthy competition. Senior teams also participate in regional tournaments, exchanges, and national events such as the AIMS Games. Across arts and sport alike, Saint Kentigern cultivates leadership, perseverance, and a strong sense of community beyond the classroom.
