Kristin School is a co-educational, independent, non-denominational school located in Albany on Auckland’s North Shore, offering education from Early Learning to Year 13. Founded in 1973 by a group of families, the school was established with a clear vision: to educate the whole person — intellectually, physically, emotionally, and ethically — through the power of a strong community. Set on a 50-acre purpose-built campus surrounded by native bush, Kristin provides a spacious and secure environment supported by outstanding facilities. With a roll of approximately 1,800 students, the school combines scale with a strong sense of belonging and care. Kristin holds a unique position in New Zealand education as the country’s first International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, offering the IB Diploma Programme since 1989, and later becoming the first to deliver the full IB Continuum — PYP, MYP, and DP. Students also have the option to pursue NCEA, providing flexible and internationally recognised academic pathways. The school welcomes students from across Europe, Asia, and South America, contributing to a diverse and globally minded community. Through its holistic philosophy, strong values, and dual curriculum offering, Kristin School prepares students to be confident, future-ready learners equipped for success in New Zealand and around the world.

Academic Excellence
Kristin School offers a seamless, future-focused education from early childhood through to Year 13, combining nurturing care with the academic rigour of the International Baccalaureate (IB) and New Zealand curriculum pathways. At Little Doves Early Learning Centre (6 months–4 years), children learn through play, exploration, and strong connections with nature in a safe, caring environment. The programme nurtures curiosity, creativity, social skills, and emotional security, preparing children for a smooth transition into Kindergarten. Kristin Kindergarten (Ages 4–5) blends the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) with Te Whāriki, New Zealand’s Early Years Curriculum. Children benefit from small-group teaching, specialist lessons in languages, music, movement, and the arts, and rich inquiry-based learning that builds confidence, independence, and a strong sense of belonging. In the Junior School (Years 0–6), students continue with the IB PYP, developing as confident inquirers and critical thinkers. Learning focuses on the whole child, supporting academic growth alongside social, emotional, and personal development. The Middle School (Years 7–10) follows the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP), where engagement and challenge are central. An inquiry-led approach encourages students to ask questions, make connections across subjects, and deepen conceptual understanding. In the Senior School (Years 11–13), students choose between two rigorous pathways. Year 11 follows a bespoke academic programme that prepares students for senior study. From Years 12–13, students may pursue NCEA Levels 2 and 3 or the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP). This dual pathway provides flexibility and ensures graduates are well prepared for university study in New Zealand and around the world.
Beyond Classroom
At Kristin School, a rich co-curricular programme encourages students to explore new interests, refine their talents, and develop confidence beyond academics. Opportunities span sports, performing arts, leadership, service, and global experiences, supporting holistic growth from Junior through to Senior School. Performing Arts play a central role at Kristin, with students engaging in music, visual arts, dance, and drama across all year levels. Award-winning productions provide hands-on experience in a fully equipped theatre, working alongside industry specialists and developing creativity, collaboration, and stage confidence. Sport is supported by exceptional on-site facilities, including top-quality playing fields, a high-performance gym, climbing wall, all-weather hockey turf, and covered tennis and netball courts. With access to expert coaching, students are able to participate and progress across a wide range of sports and levels. Kristin’s commitment to global learning is reflected in its international trips and exchange programmes. The Dovetail Exchange Programme enables Middle and Senior School students to live and study overseas — with recent destinations including Germany, France, and Australia — while hosting international students in return, fostering cultural understanding and global citizenship. Through service leadership programmes, students build empathy and social responsibility by working with community partners such as Ronald McDonald House, Wairau Special Valley School, and Restoring Rosedale Park, making meaningful contributions both locally and beyond.
